About this event

A new production of Verdi’s Macbeth launches the Metropolitan Opera’s 2026–27 season, staged by director Louisa Proske in her Met debut with designs by Jon Bausor, costumes by Montana Levi Blanco, and lighting by Adam Silverman. Choreography is by Jorrell Lawyer-Jefferson, with action direction by Ran Arthur Braun and chorus preparation by Tilman Michael. Conducted by Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the cast features baritone Quinn Kelsey as Macbeth, soprano Lise Davidsen as Lady Macbeth, Freddie De Tommaso as Macduff, and Ryan Speedo Green as Banquo. Proske’s staging probes the psychological and political fallout of ruthless ambition, tracing the couple’s descent driven by guilt and fear. The Live in HD transmission on October 17, 2026 is part of the 20th-anniversary season of the Met: Live in HD. The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation presents this event as a cinema screening in the Grand Auditorium.
