When two pianists of unquestionable stature, such as Evgeny Kissin and András Schiff, join forces for a single recital, the result is an occasion of exceptional musical significance. After postponing an intended 2022 debut due to injury, they now appear together in a programme for piano four hands and two pianos, performing works by Mozart, Schumann, Smetana and Dvořák—an evening where virtuosity and sensitivity meet in full. The first half features Mozart’s Sonata for Two Pianos in D major, K. 448, followed by Schumann’s Andante and Variations in B-flat major, Op. 46. After a 20-minute intermission, the duo presents Schumann’s intimate Bilder aus Osten, Op. 66 for piano four hands, Smetana’s The Moldau in a two‑piano transcription, and concludes with Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances, Op. 72 for piano four hands. Kissin’s monumental technique and epic expressiveness meets Schiff’s noble refinement and singing lyricism in a distinctive pairing that illuminates this Central European programme.
