This event is part of the Dresden Philharmonic’s “Literature and Music” series in the 2026/27 season themed “Paradises,” and forms part of the orchestra’s Georgia focus. By invitation of the Dresden Philharmonic and in cooperation with the Municipal Libraries Dresden, Nino Haratischwili gives the first public reading in Dresden from her new novel “The Foreign Paradises,” to be published shortly after the event. Haratischwili achieved international acclaim with “The Eighth Life (For Brilka),” and her novels such as “My Gentle Twin,” “The Cat and the General,” and “The Lack of Light” explore history and identity with striking language and intensity. Georgian pianist David Khrikuli, a multi‑prize winner and finalist of the 2025 Chopin Competition in Warsaw, provides musical interludes with keyboard works by Bach and Rachmaninoff. The evening is moderated by Ellen Schweda. Approximate duration: 90 minutes including an intermission.
