In the first concert of her third season as Principal Conductor of the Gulbenkian Choir, Martina Batič brings together motets by J. S. Bach and works by Portuguese composers, including the world premiere of Deste mund’outro by Andreia Pinto Correia, commissioned for the 70th anniversary of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Bach’s motets, widely regarded as among the finest creations in the choral repertoire, are heard alongside Luís Tinoco’s Descubro a voz and Joly Braga Santos’s Quatro Canções, forming a programme of transcendent beauty. The concert is performed entirely a cappella and lasts approximately 60 minutes without an interval.
