This production presents the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale projected on a large screen while a full symphony orchestra performs David Arnold's score live in synchronization with the picture. Marking the film’s 20th anniversary in 2026, the live-to-picture format lets audiences experience cinema and orchestral performance together. The CBSO performs the complete score as the film plays in high definition above. Part of the Film Concerts Live! series (in association with EON Productions and MGM), the Birmingham performance is promoted by esk live in association with B:Music, which operates Symphony Hall and Town Hall. David Arnold’s score requires large orchestral forces, including expanded winds, brass, strings, harp, piano, five percussionists, and electric guitar and bass. Approximately 90 minutes of music are performed live across the 2-hour-25-minute film. The conductor for Birmingham is Caleb Young.
