About this event
The 2nd Palace Concert of the 2026/27 season, titled “The Golden Age,” is presented by the Loh-Orchester Sondershausen in the Blue Hall of Sondershausen Palace. The harp serves as the unifying instrument, with soloist Marie-Pierre Langlamet, principal harpist of the Berlin Philharmonic. The program traces a chronological arc from the Baroque to French Impressionism, with each work illuminating a different facet of a musical “golden age.” It opens with Handel’s Harp Concerto, continues with Debussy’s Danse sacrée et danse profane for harp and strings, then turns to Rameau’s orchestral dances from Les Boréades, and concludes with Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin—composed during World War I as a wistful homage to France’s earlier musical golden age.
