About this event
This concert is part of the Philharmonia Orchestra’s London Concerts Autumn 2026 season at Royal Festival Hall. Built around Central European repertoire spanning the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the programme places Dvořák’s Violin Concerto at its heart, with Canadian violinist James Ehnes as soloist. The concert is conducted by Kevin John Edusei. It opens with Dora Pejačević’s dramatic Overture in D minor, Op. 49. After Dvořák’s concerto and an interval, Josef Suk’s shimmering, high-energy Scherzo Fantastique follows. The evening concludes with Janáček’s blazing Sinfonietta, famed for its triumphant brass fanfares and exhilarating rhythms. Free printed programmes are available at the venue, with digital notes released about a week before the concert.
