A 30th-anniversary film-in-concert celebration of the 1996 movie Matilda, directed by Danny DeVito and based on Roald Dahl’s novel. The original motion picture is projected in HD while the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra performs David Newman’s score live to picture, conducted by the composer. Danny DeVito hosts and narrates live. The evening begins with a pre-film talk featuring DeVito and Newman in conversation about bringing the story and score to life. Presented as part of the Royal Albert Hall’s long-running Films in Concert series, which builds on the venue’s historic tradition of pairing cinema with live music since the silent era.
