About this event

This concert unites Nils Landgren’s jazz ensemble—a “supergroup” featuring Ida Sand (vocals), Joel Lyssarides (piano), Lars Danielsson (bass), and Robert Ikiz (drums)—with the full Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. The program is in two halves: the first is devoted entirely to Leonard Bernstein’s songbook from West Side Story, Mass, On the Town, and Wonderful Town. The second half broadens out to Kurt Weill’s theatre songs, Cat Stevens’ Moonshadow, Nils Landgren’s own pieces, and songs by the Joe Sample/Will Jennings partnership. All orchestral arrangements are by American composer-arranger Vince Mendoza, a longstanding Landgren collaborator (Some Other Time and Love of My Life). Musical direction is shared by two conductors: Marten Larsson leads the Bernstein half and Sara Troback leads the second. Landgren appears as both trombonist and vocalist and serves as the project’s artistic director. The concert is part of the Gothenburg Symphony’s 2026–2027 season.
