Gothenburg Concert Hall
Orchestral Symphony Concert
Subtitled “An evening in the spirit of humanism,” this concert brings together spirituality, humanism, and symphonic radiance. Under French conductor Samy Rachid, the Gothenburg Symphony tackles three generations of composers from France, Sweden, and Germany—Lili Boulanger, Elfrida Andrée, and Felix Mendelssohn—shaping a journey of prayer, manifesto, and jubilation. It marks Rachid’s first guest appearance in Gothenburg; as assistant conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Andris Nelsons, his interest in the symphonic organ tradition bridges the French and Nordic strands of the program. Swedish organist Jonas Lundblad, known for recordings of Swedish symphonic organ music on Caprice Records, appears as organ soloist. The program coincides with the Gothenburg International Organ Festival (7–18 October 2026), adding resonance within the city’s organ culture. The Gothenburg Concert Hall organ is central to the evening—from Boulanger’s intimate Pie Jesu to Andrée’s powerful Organ Symphony No. 2.
