This production unites two novels by Swiss author Charles Ferdinand Ramuz into a single double bill for the stage. Director Tilmann Koehler, returning to Bühnen Bern after his 2021 production “Von schlechten Eltern,” and dramaturg Felicitas Zuercher adapt Ramuz’s texts, with set design by Karoly Risz, costumes by Susanne Uhl, and music by Matthias Krieg. Conceived as an existential evening between paradise and apocalypse, the show juxtaposes two extremes: annihilation by heat on the one hand and a paradise of immortality that curdles into boredom on the other. The scenic and costume design underscore this double perspective of end times and eternal life. A co-production between Bühnen Bern and Theater Freiburg, the piece runs at Vidmar 1 (Oct 2026–Feb 2027) before guest performances at Theater Freiburg’s Kleines Haus from May 8, 2027. A free Schauspiel-Apéro on October 7, 2026 in the Stadttheater foyer offers an introductory glimpse.
