About this event

This concert is a program devoted to Schubert's great ballads, songs both monumental and profoundly lyrical. It is presented as part of the "Complete Schubert Lieder: Year 3" series, a multi-year project to perform Franz Schubert's complete lieder at Bourgie Hall. Each concert in the series highlights a different facet of the composer's vast vocal output. A selection of concerts in this series is presented with support from the estate of Marie-Paule Laurans. Baritone Konstantin Krimmel makes his Bourgie Hall debut with this performance. A celebrated lieder singer, Krimmel is praised for his commanding presence and communicative artistry. He is joined by pianist Ammiel Bushakevitz, an internationally active song accompanist. The duo has appeared at venues including Wigmore Hall in London and the 92nd Street Y in New York. A pre-concert lecture by Jean Portugais, titled "Epic Schubert: Greatly Inspired Romanticism," is offered at 17:00 on the day of the performance.
