The Jihočeské divadlo production of “Pořád jsem to já” (Still Alice) is an intimate, minimalist staging directed by Thomas Zielinski for the studio space Na Půdě. Designer Lukáš Kuchinka strips the set to essentials—four seating cubes and a horizon projection—so the acting remains front and center. The atmosphere is shaped by unsettling original music from composer Ivan Acher, which adds emotional weight, especially in the quiet final exchange between Alice and John. The premiere took place during the COVID-19 pandemic without a live audience, marking a unique birth for the production. Lead actress Věra Hlaváčková received the Jihočeská Thálie 2021 award for her portrayal of Alice. Overall, the concept favors clarity, restraint, and focus, allowing the story to unfold with poignancy and precision in a chamber setting.
