Jihočeská matiné is a collaborative series of morning chamber concerts presented by two neighboring cultural institutions in the heart of České Budějovice: the South Bohemian Theatre and the South Bohemian Museum. Performances take place in the museum’s neo‑Renaissance building and feature singers and instrumentalists from the South Bohemian Theatre Opera. The programming spans multiple centuries of chamber music, pairing iconic Czech composers with figures connected to České Budějovice—such as Vojtěch Jírovec and Rudolf Kende—whose works are rediscovered from the museum’s archives. The concert experience integrates the venue’s architecture and ambiance: instead of theatre bells, three live trumpet fanfares echo through the corridors to announce the 11:00 AM start. Each ticket also includes free same‑day admission to all museum exhibitions.
