The Csárdás Princess – Budova JD, České Budějovice

About this event

The Csárdás Princess is one of the most frequently performed and beloved operettas in the global repertoire. Hungarian composer Emmerich Kálmán fuses enchanting waltzes, fiery csárdás dances, and instantly memorable melodies into a vibrant musical tapestry. Created on the eve of the First World War, the work carries the fragrance of a golden age nearing its end. Beneath the sparkle of its music lies a gentle melancholy and an awareness of life’s transience—encapsulated in its message: life is sweet and short; enjoy it while there is still time. This South Bohemian Theatre production celebrates the joy of life, music, and love, while offering a poetic farewell to an era wishing to dance one last waltz.
