This production marks the return of Les Misérables to the Théâtre du Châtelet, presented in its original French language. The musical, originally a French concept album discovered by Cameron Mackintosh in 1982, was adapted for the English and American stage in 1985. For this specific staging, the creators have revisited the material: Alain Boublil has corrected, adapted, and modified the libretto to better serve Victor Hugo's masterpiece, while Claude-Michel Schönberg has reworked the musical score. The staging is directed by Ladislas Chollat, with a comprehensive creative team including set design by Emmanuelle Roy, costumes by Jean-Daniel Vuillermoz, and choreography by Romain Rachline Borgeaud.
