About this event
“L’archipel du désir” is an intimate vocal-and-piano recital in Opéra de Lille’s early-evening Heure bleue series. The program explores the many faces of desire—attachment, complicity, intoxication, obsession, mourning, and the violence or resistance that can exist within couples. It places late-19th-century female composers Rita Strohl and Augusta Holmès in dialogue with Claude Debussy, and introduces a contemporary counterpoint by pianist-composer Kaoli Ono. Across this one-hour journey, the recital bridges historical French mélodie with a modern perspective, reflecting on how longing and love are voiced in different eras and cultures.
