Ndr Bigband / Jörg Achim Keller – Masters Of Jazz: Clare Fischer – NDR Konzerthaus, Germany

About this event

With the “Masters of Jazz” series, the NDR Bigband and former chief conductor Jörg Achim Keller dedicate a special evening to the music of Clare Fischer. The concert explores the unique harmonic language of the renowned keyboardist, bandleader and composer, whose work influenced artists such as Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney and Prince. Keller’s concept focuses on Fischer’s hallmark “dyadic” approach—juxtapositions of simple and complex, old and new, diatonic and chromatic—woven into his writing. Two of Fischer’s big band albums serve as key inspirations for the program. They demonstrate how his highly specific harmonic vocabulary can be translated into the big band format, revealing a musical voice that Keller describes as uniquely and unmistakably Fischer.
