Doric String Quartet – Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg

The Doric String Quartet makes its debut in the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall with a new line-up, having welcomed two new members in the previous year. The program is designed around intriguing contrasts, opening with Haydn's highly concentrated Op. 74/3 and contrasting it with the warmth and lyricism of Schumann's F major quartet. The second half of the concert shifts to English musical landscapes, featuring baroque sensuality in Purcell's Fantasias and concluding with Britten's visionary String Quartet No. 3.
