The New York Philharmonic appears at the Elbphilharmonie under its Music & Artistic Director, Gustavo Dudamel, in a program framed by reflection and symphonic breadth. John Adams’s On the Transmigration of Souls—commissioned by the orchestra in the aftermath of September 11—creates a contemplative space of remembrance. The evening continues with Zosha Di Castri’s Invisible House and culminates in Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major, Op. 100. The Orfeó Català choir joins for Adams’s work.
