This concert presents a curated journey primarily through modern piano music, performed by students of the New Music master's class at the Folkwang University of the Arts. The program is artistically led by Prof. Barbara Maurer and serves as a featured event in the NOW! Transzendenz festival. The festival itself is supported by the Kunststiftung NRW, the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of NRW, and the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. The thematic starting point of the program is the year 1945, marked by Pierre Boulez's "Douze Notations pour Piano," which was influenced by Olivier Messiaen and Claude Debussy. The highly sensual and demanding program reflects the profound influence of historical traditions and past musicians on contemporary composition.
