A contemporary chamber music program within the NOW! Transzendenz festival at Philharmonie Essen, this concert features the Essener BenMo Trio in a focused exploration of 20th- and 21st-century piano trio repertoire. Founded in 2019 by alumni of the Folkwang University of the Arts, the ensemble is known for expanding the traditional trio format through elements of movement and theatre to create multidimensional concert experiences. In the intimate NATIONAL-BANK Pavillon, the program traces a path from refined Italian sound worlds to increasingly performative works, culminating in Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s scenic piano trio Présence.
