Neither Anna Lapwood nor Mihalj Kekenj and his Takeover!Ensemble have any fear of musical boundaries. The sensational English organist moves with dazzling virtuosity and ease between classical music, film scores, and pop. She shares this delight in musical transformation with Mihalj “Miki” Kekenj, whose crossover project regularly thrills the audience at the Philharmonie Essen. After collaborations with hip-hop and soul stars such as Max Herre and Samy Deluxe, the Takeover!Ensemble now meets Anna Lapwood, who is featured this season in her own portrait series at the Philharmonie Essen. When classical meets pop and the concert hall becomes a pulsating stage, an energetic, genre-spanning concert experience emerges together with the young, acclaimed organist. Anna Lapwood’s portrait is supported by the Alfred and Cläre Pott Foundation.
