About this event
The full-evening work “rwh. 1–4” is the spiritual magnum opus of the French composer Mark Andre. It stands at the threshold of vanishing sound and transcendence and reflects the composer’s profound religiosity. “rwh” (pronounced “ruach”) is an Aramaic word encompassing breath, air, fragrance, wind, and spirit—since Luther’s translation also the Holy Spirit. The audience experiences a breathing, resonant space in four parts conducted by Ingo Metzmacher, marked by unique musical and spiritual intensity. As Andre describes, these are spaces that pass quickly yet may unfold the highest degree of intensity.
