This new-to-Dallas production of The Elixir of Love sets Donizetti’s classic comedy amid the shifting climate of post-war Italy. The story follows a hopeless romantic who pines for the town’s school teacher, ignored until a traveling salesman arrives with a so-called magical elixir. The staging asks whether these two lovers will truly find each other in this specific historical moment—or whether the elixir is only a false promise. Co-owned by The Dallas Opera and Palm Beach Opera, the production’s designs were originally created for Santa Fe Opera. Opening night on Friday, October 9, 2026, features a Season Opening Night Celebration with live entertainment, beverages, and light bites.
