Australian director Barrie Kosky brings a bold and glitzy new production to The Dallas Opera, marking its North American debut. The staging is described as a colorful survival of man versus animal, bringing vibrant theatricality to Janáček's classic story. Kosky's directorial vision is noted for its clever charm, vibrant colors, and an unerring antenna for finding hidden pockets of silliness and tenderness, of humor and pathos. The production is a collaborative international effort, co-produced by The Dallas Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, and Gran Teatre del Liceu. The creative team includes costume design by Victoria Behr and lighting design by Franck Evin.
