About this event
In the first of two concerts by the Staatskapelle Berlin at the Pierre Boulez Saal, New Zealand conductor Gemma New makes her debut with the orchestra. Together with tenor Stephan Rügamer and horn player Ignacio García, she will present Benjamin Britten's Serenade, one of the composer's most famous works, written for tenor Peter Pears. Also on the program is Joseph Haydn's last symphony, with which he enjoyed particular success in London in 1795. The concert opens with the energetic " Storm" by American composer Jessie Montgomery, composed in 2012.
