About this event

Phion continues its Christmas-with-Mahler tradition with a symphonic concert built around Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 6. Chief conductor Alexei Ogrintchouk leads the orchestra in this large-scale work, presented in concert form without staging. The focus is on the musical drama: the struggle between dark minor and luminous major, the famous hammer blows, and the reflective Andante. Between 11 and 26 December 2026 the production tours multiple Dutch venues, including a 14:15 matinee in Utrecht’s Grote Zaal at TivoliVredenburg.
