Hisaishi Conducts Hisaishi marks the celebrated composer-conductor’s return to the San Francisco Symphony following a series of sold-out concerts in September 2024. Presented without film, the program focuses on Hisaishi’s contemporary classical voice rather than his famed movie scores. At its center is the West Coast premiere of his Concerto for Orchestra, a work commissioned by the San Francisco Symphony. The concert spotlights Hisaishi’s craftsmanship in symphonic writing and his standing as a leading figure in today’s orchestral landscape, alongside his roles with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and The Philadelphia Orchestra.
