This production continues the partnership between the San Francisco Symphony and Alonzo King LINES Ballet, uniting live symphonic music and contemporary ballet at Davies Symphony Hall. James Gaffigan conducts the San Francisco Symphony performing onstage with the dancers of LINES Ballet. Artistic Director Alonzo King creates two world premieres: new choreography to Aaron Copland’s Suite from Appalachian Spring and to Claude Debussy’s Prélude à l’après‑midi d’un faune. The danced works explore how movement and sound breathe together in real time, reframing Copland’s open‑skied Americana and Debussy’s impressionistic sensuality. The program also features Sergei Prokofiev’s Sinfonia concertante with San Francisco Symphony Principal Cellist Rainer Eudeikis.
