Hannes Minnaar Piano – Wigmore Hall, London

About this event

Dutch pianist Hannes Minnaar presents a rare opportunity to hear Dmitri Shostakovich’s complete 24 Preludes and Fugues, Op. 87 in a single sitting. Celebrated for the sensitivity and balance of his interpretations, Minnaar explores the cycle’s astonishing range—from crystalline counterpoint to brooding introspection—with clarity and poise. To accommodate the monumental scope of the work, the recital lasts around three hours and is divided by an interval placed between Nos. 12 and 13. This immersive format allows the intricate architecture and expressive contrasts of one of the 20th century’s greatest keyboard cycles to unfold across an evening.
