Japanese American violinist Midori joins pianist Özgür Aydin for a Wigmore Hall recital that showcases profound musical insight and expressive range. Internationally acclaimed for her artistry and her advocacy in music education through Midori and Friends, Midori also champions today’s composers. That commitment is reflected here in the inclusion of a new work by Thierry Escaich, one of the four titular organists of Notre-Dame de Paris. Balancing the contemporary with the classic and romantic, the programme features Grieg’s Violin Sonata No. 2 in G, Mozart’s Violin Sonata in E minor K. 304, and Schumann’s Violin Sonata No. 2 in D minor Op. 121. The evening lasts approximately two hours including an interval.
