About this event

This classical guitar recital is presented as part of the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) Lunchtime Series for the 2026/27 Season (September - December) at Wigmore Hall. The production focuses on an intimate, acoustic presentation of solo guitar repertoire, bridging historical periods from the Renaissance to the present day. The performance is designed as a continuous, hour-long musical experience without an interval, allowing for an unbroken narrative flow between the contrasting historical and contemporary pieces. The artistic vision highlights the versatility of the classical guitar by juxtaposing the intricate polyphony of John Dowland and J.S. Bach with modern compositional voices. By including a newly commissioned work by Arthur Keegan, the YCAT Composer Fellow, the production actively supports the creation of new repertoire for the instrument while grounding it in the rich tradition of 16th and 18th-century lute and keyboard adaptations.
