Two eloquent champions of their respective instruments, fearless in their pursuit of engaging repertoire and fresh artistic adventures, unite for a lunchtime programme that spans an oceanwide expanse of musical styles and moods. The recital is designed to showcase both the individual virtuosity and the collaborative synergy of the guitar and accordion. The performance sets the scene with the debonair Prelude to Mexican composer Manuel Ponce’s homage to Bach’s near-contemporary, the lutenist Silvius Leopold Weiss. Ksenija Sidorova’s accordion virtuosity enhances the recital’s energy quotient, particularly highlighted through her dazzling reflections on the works of Ástor Piazzolla.
