About this event

The Staatsoperette Dresden presents Alice im Wunderland as an imaginative dance fairy tale ("Tanzmärchen") designed for the whole family. Ballet director Radek Stopka leads the choreography, translating the whimsical and bizarre encounters of the classic Victorian novel into a dynamic physical language. The production aims to reinvent the beloved characters for a new generation through expressive movement and theatrical storytelling. A defining element of this staging is the original score by Dresden-based composer Sven Helbig. The music is described as featuring sensually powerful chord sequences that create a hypnotic effect, mirroring the surreal nature of Wonderland, while energetic rhythms propel the narrative forward. The visual world is crafted by Guido Petzold, who handles stage design, lighting, and video design, working in tandem with costume designer Thorsten Fietze to bring the vibrant, eccentric inhabitants of Wonderland to life.
