About this event

Staatsoperette Dresden presents Engelbert Humperdinck’s fairy‑tale opera Hänsel und Gretel in a new staging by Kathrin Kondaurow. Michael Ellis Ingram leads the performances, with scenography by Volker Thiele and costumes by Anke Aleith. Video design by Lutz Michen suggests a vivid, multimedia visual layer for the classic story. Dramaturgy is by Philipp Amelungsen, and the house’s children’s chorus is prepared by Carola Rühle‑Keil. The production brings together the Orchester der Staatsoperette Dresden and the Kinderchor der Staatsoperette for a festive winter run.
