Following a sublime concert at the National Concert Hall as part of their 50th anniversary tour, the Kronos Quartet returns to Dublin to celebrate the 90th birthday of their long-time collaborator, Steve Reich. As the ensemble enters its sixth decade, this production highlights a new era for the group, carrying the torch of progressive, contemporary chamber music that is integral to the Kronos ethos. The production leverages the deep historical connection between the composer and the ensemble. Through its nonprofit organization, the Kronos Performing Arts Association (KPAA), the quartet has commissioned more than 1,100 works and arrangements, with Steve Reich being one of their most significant ongoing partnerships. This specific staging serves as both a retrospective of their shared commissioning legacy and a forward-looking showcase of the quartet's new lineup.
