About this event
This production is a main-series symphonic concert presented by the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. The program bridges late Romanticism and contemporary classical music, opening with Jean Sibelius's atmospheric tone poem "Tuonelas svane" (The Swan of Tuonela). The centerpiece of the evening is Kaija Saariaho's "HUSH", a contemporary trumpet concerto featuring soloist Verneri Pohjola. The concert concludes with Franz Schubert's monumental Symphony No. 9, commonly known as "The Great". The performance is conducted by Matthew Halls and takes place in the Fartein Valen hall at the Stavanger konserthus.
