About this event
The "Rakhmaninov & Stravinskij" concert is part of the Stavanger Symfoniorkester's Hovedserie (Main Series) for autumn 2026. The program pairs two landmark works of the early 20th-century Russian repertoire, contrasting Rachmaninoff’s lush, virtuosic romanticism with Stravinsky’s vivid, rhythmically charged modernism. Under the baton of Alpesh Chauhan, the orchestra is joined by pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko for Rachmaninoff’s formidable Third Piano Concerto. A free pre-concert work orientation, "Inn i musikken" (Into the music), is offered in the VIP room at 18:00, one hour before the performance.
