Year after year, audiences gather in Copenhagen Cathedral for this musical celebration, where the narrative comes alive through Bach’s unique musical language. Acclaimed English baroque specialist Laurence Cummings leads the soloists, orchestra, and Copenhagen Boys Choir in a performance that brings Bach’s Christmas music vividly and intimately into the present. Bach reused earlier music in the Christmas Oratorio, but transformed it with his dramatic and musical coherence into a unified whole marked by warmth, clarity, and depth.
