About this event
In her return to Symphony Hall, violinist Hilary Hahn pairs with cellist Seth Parker Woods for a new Boston Symphony Orchestra co-commission written specifically for them by the BSO’s Composer Chair, Carlos Simon. Simon’s musical language is vibrant and joyful, designed for rich interplay between the soloists and the orchestra. The program frames this contemporary premiere with music from two of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s stage works: the stately Polonaise from the opera Eugene Onegin and sparkling character dances from Act 2 of The Nutcracker, previewing the orchestra’s deeper focus on Tchaikovsky later in the season.
