Maestra Alondra de la Parra leads the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in a highly kinetic, dance-focused program designed to have audiences moving in your seat. The curation bridges diverse cultural expressions of dance through orchestral music, moving from the Argentine ranch life depicted in Ginastera's Estancia to the social gatherings celebrated in Carlos Simon's Four Black American Dances. A unique centerpiece is Thomas Enhco's Tap Concerto, which elevates percussive dance to the role of a classical soloist, brought to life by award-winning choreographer and dancer Caleb Teicher. The program culminates in Bernstein's iconic Symphonic Dances from West Side Story.
