About this event

This concert project unites the Singkreis Lukas from Lucerne and the CANTALBIS choir from Hausen am Albis to perform Joseph Haydn’s landmark oratorio The Creation. Although geographically close, the choirs are rooted in different cantons. The project links ensembles and venues across the cantons of Lucerne, Zug, and Zurich, generating an interregional cultural impact. Musical direction is shared by conductors João Tiago Santos and Francisco Santos, who have similar academic backgrounds and a successful history of collaboration. Around 80 amateur singers are joined by the 26-member professional Ensemble Cantilena and a distinguished trio of vocal soloists. The goal is to enable dedicated amateur singers to study one of the core works of choral literature at a high artistic level. Beyond artistic quality, the large number of participants and the inter-cantonal concept aim to foster strong social impact and to enrich the cultural life of the involved regions.
