The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet presents a double-bill of works by Sol León and Paul Lightfoot. The programme pairs the Norwegian premiere of Salle de Danse with the 20th-anniversary revival of Shoot the Moon. León and Lightfoot—resident choreographers of Nederlands Dans Theater from 2002 to 2020—are celebrated for a movement language that is fluid yet raw, weightless yet charged with tension. Co-produced with The Royal Ballet and Kungliga Baletten, the evening features the Norwegian National Ballet and live music by the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra. Salle de Danse, originally conceived by Paul Lightfoot as a film during the pandemic, has been reimagined and expanded for the stage with a newly composed score by Ilya Demutsky. Up to 40 dancers fill the stage in an expansive design. Shoot the Moon marks its 20th year, unfolding across three revolving rooms that frame the action with cinematic clarity. A free introduction in Norwegian is offered one hour before each performance.
