Baroque Fiesta is a curated concert program that creates a musical dialogue between the old and new worlds. Guest director and violin soloist Lina Tur Bonet joins Mexican-American mezzo-soprano Cecilia Duarte to lead Tafelmusik in an exploration that bridges European baroque traditions with the vibrant musical heritage of Latin America. The program highlights arias by Spanish composers such as José de Nebra, Sebastián Durón, and José Marín alongside works by Italian contemporaries including Antonio Vivaldi and Andrea Falconieri. Tur Bonet, known for her bold and edgy style, leads the orchestra on period instruments. A significant portion of the concert delves into Latin American baroque, featuring music by Guatemalan composer Rafael Castellanos and selections from the Peruvian Codex Martinez Compañón, a collection shaped by African, Indigenous, and Spanish influences.
