About this event

This production of Swan Lake is a contemporary reimagining by the acclaimed French contemporary dance company, Ballet Preljocaj. Choreographed by Angelin Preljocaj, the staging bridges the classical foundations of the ballet with modern aesthetic and auditory elements. While rooted in Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's iconic romantic score, the sound world is expanded through additional original music composed by 79D. The production’s visual identity is distinctly modern, featuring costume design by Igor Chapurin and lighting design by Eric Soyer. The staging incorporates multimedia, with video design by Boris Labbé adding a dynamic, contemporary visual layer to the traditional four-act structure. To provide further context, a pre-performance “Conversazione sulla danza” in the theatre foyer, led by Leonetta Bentivoglio, explores the nuances of Preljocaj’s dance-theatre interpretation of the classic work.
