About this event

Musicians of the Concertgebouw Orchestra perform their own curated programs in the Recital Hall as part of the Close-up chamber music series. Each of these intimate concerts is unique and performed only once as part of the series, showcasing the individual artistic qualities of the orchestral musicians. These concerts are organized collaboratively by the Friends of Het Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. From the Old World is programmed to mark the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence, exploring America as a blueprint for new democracies and a haven for artistic and personal freedom. The program emphasizes how the New World offered boundless possibilities to European composers who temporarily or permanently left old Europe for the United States.
