About this event

This concert is part of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden's 2026/27 symphony season, closely connected to the city's vibrant musical history. Curated by General Music Director Leo McFall, the season features a special "Hommage an Klemperer" series. Otto Klemperer shaped Wiesbaden's musical landscape as General Music Director from 1924 to 1927, boldly championing new sounds and large symphonic works. The "Russische Emigranten" (Russian Emigrants) program honors Klemperer's legacy of promoting contemporary Russian music during his tenure in Wiesbaden. By presenting these specific works, the production builds a historical bridge between the early 20th-century Russian avant‑garde and Klemperer's progressive programming in the 1920s.
