This scenic-musical reading transforms Charles Dickens’ classic into a staged experience with a top-class cast of actors. Produced and directed by Simone Henke, the evening blends dramatic narration with choral music, continuing Henke’s tradition of literary concert formats presented at major stages such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the Burgtheater Vienna. Dedicated sound effects by film and theatre composer Leonardo Mockridge add an evocative layer to the storytelling. Under the musical leadership of Iris Geißler and Wolfgang Hentrich, the Philharmonischer Chor Dresden and members of the Dresdner Philharmonie interweave festive English Christmas carols with the narration, crafting an atmosphere designed for both goosebumps and warmth.
