About this event

Theater & Orchester Heidelberg presents a new production of Stephen Sondheim’s musical thriller Sweeney Todd as part of its 2026/27 season. The staging marks the Heidelberg debut of the multi-award-winning German director Immo Karaman, who also designs the set for this production. The musical is performed in German and recommended for audiences aged 14 and over. The creative team includes Junyoung Kim (Musical Director), Fabian Posca (Choreographer and Costume Designer), Simone Kalt (Lighting Designer), Sarah Grahneis (Dramaturge), Florian Daniel (Chorus Master), and Annabelle Ruth (Music Theatre Education). Performances take place in the Marguerre-Saal, with the premiere on 12 December 2026. Under the new artistic leadership of designated Intendantin Bernadette Sonnenbichler and designated Commercial Director Thomas Eisenträger, Sweeney Todd is one of six premieres opening the new season across all departments.
